Women are actually very patriotic. I occasionally accompany my wife to the stores and usually I look at where the products are made. It looks like a lot of make-up, creams, lotions, body spray, hand soap, etc. are actually made in the USA.
Clothing and shoes on the other hand I'm not as sure but I think a lot of those are being made in other countries besides China.
Men on the other hand, tend to like to buy electronics... which usually have the made in China seal somewhere.
It also looks like a lot of produce are grown here too... and it seems like most grocers have the option of a Chilian, South America grown, or American grown.
Just an interesting observation. What have you guys seen or noticed?

Well yesterday I hunkered myself down in front of a big plate of the ever-popular General Tso's Chicken with Pork Fried Rice, accompanied by some Roast Pork Lomein, crunchy pipin' hot Egg Roll, and Hot 'n Sour soup!
Oh gosh, it was all just so tasty and delish!!
OH YEAH, plenty of chili oil/sauce slathered on there. Best thing about Asian food (or Mexican).
CHILI PASTE/OIL: (how I love thee, let me count the ways)
1. Extremely potent anti-oxidant (neutralizes some of the free radical cascades from the yummy deep fried fixin's).
2. Anti-parasitic, promotes GI tract health.
3. Promotes mood enhancement through increase/release of endorphins.
4. Proteolytic. Aids and eases digestion of food.
Okay, here now I will recap the benefits of Chili Paste/Oil in Chinese-English for good humor:

We lived in Beijing for a month this spring. We were supposed to do a 2 year contract there, but no way.....
I can only speak for foreigners I knew and met in Beijing, but all of them trusted no products Chinese. We all assumed that everything was contaminated, pirated, and counterfeited. I remember having a casual chat with a Brit in a downtown bar, he'd been in China for 17 years and spoke brilliant Chinese, he claimed that nothing in China could be trusted to be what it said it was. Nothing.
He thought that everyone in China was being slowly poisoned. He said a little additive here, a little chemical boost there, that all Chinese products had been manipulated somewhere in the production process with illegal and probably dangerous substances.
I do know that Beijingers did a bang up business in water. Nobody drank the water. Everywhere were bottled water vendors. The water supply was contaminated with heavy metals. Still, we all ate food cooked with the water, noodles boiled in the water, there was really no way to completely avoid the contaminated water supply.
And the Beijing air was worse than the water. It was acrid, sooty, and grimy.
Any product that you bought was guaranteed to disintegrate in days. I even bought a toothbrush that fell apart the first time I brushed my teeth with it.
But I think the Chinese have so many people--1.6 billion--that to lose a million here or a thousand there to disease or poisoning isn't really an issue, there are so many more right behind to replace them. Life is cheap in China.

South Korea just banned Chinese Kimchi. I make my own, so I don't really care.
Ermm...do all Chinese exports suck?
South Korea, meanwhile, declared a large amount of Chinese-made kimchi, or spicy fermented cabbage, to be inedible due to banned or harmful additives found in it, further adding to Chinese food safety concerns.
