Default can credit card companys go after workermans comp or SSI

iv been out of work for 9 years cause of a back injury i racked up 7000 debt during this time Thanks

I very much doubt they would bother with that. They get free money from the Fed, what the hell do they care? Your credit rating will be toast, though, if you stop paying on the cc's.

I wouldn't be too quick to blow that off. Legitimate debt can be garnished from income sources, which would include workman's comp and SSI. I would check with an attorney before I defaulted on your credit.

Workmans comp and SSI are generally exempt from garnishment.
However you will want to keep exempt funds in a separate bank account so you can prove they are protected. You would not want to risk the exemptions if the funds are mixed with unprotected funds.
