I have only ever had one credit card. I use it and pay it off monthly.
Just refi'd and my credit score was just fine..in the upper numbers.
This one card I've had with my credit union for about 15 years.
Don't believe the hogwash that you need several credit cards.
I agree, the less you have the better. I've canceled several and it has not hurt my credit rating. And paid the two I have off.
I don't have many credit cards, but I can add that my Dell account was slashed from $1500 to zero. They don't appear to have closed the account (yet), so I guess they froze the credit line. It doesn't really bother me since I'm not in the market for any more hardware for the near future. But I wonder how long before my two credit card companies do something similar. I carry little to no balance on all of them.
I've already resorted to paying more by check and cash nowdays. Sometimes you can even get deals for things like car repairs if you pay by cash. A friend of mine saved $100 doing so yesterday.
Wow! I would have been upset as well Traveling like that and bamm Thank goodness you had another CC with you though but some people including myself might not have
I have never experienced a reduction in C-line, but I have only had two cards for over twenty years. When the combined line peaked at over 40k I voluntarily asked for a reduction. Is it possible that is the cause of the problem here ? ... that people may have too much available credit for their income spread over many cards? Still, they should warn you of an impending change before you find out unexpectedly.
Pay off that card and cancel it. Demand a letter saying the card and account is cancelled and that no charges what so ever are owed. Send a letter of complaint to the BBB.
