Default Getting a loan

OK so we are one of those couples who did everything wrong financially and now we're trying to fix it...responsibly. DH works for the government and so if we go overseas we'll make a lot more money (free housing, etc)and get back in good financial shape. We would want to first sell our house but we would need about $20K to pay closing costs (which of course would be the responsibility of us, the seller, in this economy. This is assuming we would do a FSBO, but it will still cost us about $20K.) We would need a loan in order to pay this. DH would be deploying to Afghanistan for 6 months before we move overseas and I would stay with my parents for free during this time. He would make enough during his deployment to pay off this loan. So, we need a short-term loan--we would pay it back in full within 9 months. Unfortunately, our debt-to-income ratio is like 50% so I don't think we would qualify. Do you think we could be approved if my parents co-signed? Our income is quite high and we have very good credit. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
