What Recession? Fooey! (pay off, $40k, apartment, recessions)

I live in an area that has some big unemployment numbers going on (12.7%). There are lots of 20 year olds out of work. Some of them have signed up for the National Guard because they can't find work.
I am not a young person and neither is my husband, but we are doing okay. I really know of mostly young people who are out of work, but I'm sure there are older ones too.

This economy has been hard on a lot of people. Donate food to your local food bank if you are doing well. It'll help those less fortunate.

I just donated my old car instead of selling it for 1500.

Actually from what I have read and seen young people in their 20's have been some of the hardest hit, well especially the ones coming out of college right now. You're doing good, good for you but there is a recession going on. Be careful what you say it might come back to bite you in the ass

Took the words right out of my mouth. Regardless of how you may have followed up to it, your original post was akin to rubbing your success in these hard times into everyone's face. And if you don't see that, then you have a lot of growing up to do.

Okay I'm older as well, and I think the OP's post is fine. And nope, not everyone is doing badly. I know lots of people who have lost a lot in 401K money, but they have good jobs, still huge savings and some own or almost-own their own homes. Not everyone is doing badly at all.

I sometimes forget there are people like this in the Midwest. Most people are so human.

There's a big difference between saying, "I'm still doing well despite the recession" and " there's no recession because I'm doing well" The second statesment is ridiculous.
