I can see many lucky people here... So far the recession has affected me personally but in a small way. Being a student still, the only way it has really affected me is the fact that the recession has made it harder to find new jobs. I just hope the recession could be over soon.

" I just landed a great job for a very reputable financial company rated the best in the industry about 3 months ago."

Your company is getting bailed out directly or indirectly by the government's actions to prop up the financial sector and the housing sector.

If we're not experiencing economic problems then why is the government printing trillions of dollars to bail out just about everyone on Wall Street?

I have no outgoings: no car, house, wife, kids, job......

I have actually benefited from this "invisible" recession. Its actually in peoples minds, it doesn't exist.

Why are you reviving a post so old it has grey hairs? And why are you putting people down like that? You will be getting a whole lot of hate mail over your stupid lies just like the OP did.

In Peoples minds huh? Why dont you tell the banks that. I dare you. I wish I can be honest with you but I dont have freedom of speech to do so. What a stupid thing to say

What do you know about the United States anyway? Your country is also in a great depression too and your govt is more of a sissy then ours.

I mean't to say that people pull back financially when "things get bad" and that can make the "small recession" into a "larger recession".

I never curbed my spending, at all, I carried on, but I also looked at what I was buying and when, which was a waste of time because I'm never a big spender anyway.

Heres some rep, ya bigot.

At least you admitted you were wrong. Good riddance to ya. I love the Brits but never met one like you before.

I guess the recession hasn't directly affected me either... after all my wife and I still have our jobs. Although I'm survivor of a 18%+ reduction in my company's workforce... none of us are meeting our budgeted goals so no bonus pay or little commissions. Our industry is down 22%, my territory is down 37% and my 3rd largest account (3% of our company's revenue) just closed it's doors.

In my side job my band is still getting hired, although bars and nightclubs complain that revenue is off more than 30%. We've had three weddings cancel on us and one venue close.

So no... I guess the recession still isn't putting me in the poorhouse...I just paid off my car, my mortgage is fine and I'm paying down my debt. It's more like 1/3rd of my previous earnings and opportunities have just drifted away. Nothing but rainbows and sunshine here.

Now your post is pretty hard to swallow. First it is not a recession, maybe for a few isolated areas but for the most part this country is in a depression.

You said you have not been affected yet your entire post listed all the downsizing, cancelations, percentages off the norms, closings, not meeting budgeted goals, no bonuses, no commissions, reductions in workforces, opportunities that have drifted away and on and on.......did I get them all?

And you are not affected. Mister I want a bottle of what you are drinking. I do applaud you on being a surviver. I do question though if you are a surviver or just very very lucky to not have been part of the company ax. As the saying goes.......dont speak too soon. You may be next so be prepared. This economic depresssion has much more falling to do before any change blows with the breeze.
