Default Do all banks charge ATM fees??

I just discovered today that when I withdraw money from another bank, I not only pay that bank a fee, but MY bank charges me $2.00 each time. That seems incredibly ridiculous to me. They're basically charging me money for not using their ATM... for them not having an ATM that is more convenient for me. I'm curious to know if Bank of America is the only bank that does this. If so, I'm going to switch banks immediately.

Short answer: NO

Fairly short answer: Bank of America sucks.

Rest of the story: I/we have a checking account, with which we use debit cards, and rarely actually write checks. If I withdraw cash from an ATM owned by our bank, we do not get charged a fee. If withdraw cash from any other ATM, I get charged what that particular banks charges, but there is no charge from my bank. It has primarily to do with your bank, and the kind of checking account you have there.

No, they are not the only bank that does that...many do to various extents.

Resolution: open an account with a credit union. They are much more likely to participate in a Shared Branch coop that gives you free access to other credit union and some bank ATM networks.

News is this week that Wells Fargo the other criminals will be charging $10 to use an ATM. Other banks will follow. But we all know people will accept it and pay it right?

And to the other poster, yes BOA sucks very very big...................

In over five years of banking exclusively with them, I haven't had any issues with BoA at all, so I won't say that they suck. I don't like them charging me for not using their ATM's, though.

We use USAA and they refund all other bank ATM charges and charge nothing.

B of A does suck...you may not have had a bad experience yet but you will.

Yesd, all banks have ATM charges,,, so don't use your card anywhere other than BofA..! What's so difficult..?
Been using BofA for over thirty years, I have money in the bank, and I pay my bills. Pretty easy to understand.. Never have a problem if you keep money inyou account, and you pay your bills.
Those with problems aren't the kind of people I'd lend money to

I don't really think anyone cares who you'd lend money to, but thanks for sharing!

Unfortunately BoA doesn't have ATM's everywhere... i.e. at bars that require you to pay a cover, when I don't have cash. So I have to use the ATM to get money out. Understand?

Ahhh, lack of planning strikes again! See page 6 of the cub scout manual.

Seriously, I understand the situation but thems the breaks no matter who you bank with. You'll just have to open accounts with all the banks to avoid this inconvience.

I was going to post the same exact thing word for word but you beat me to it.

Sooner or later BOA will getcha. They sure did get me good. What I want to say about them now will get me banned from CD for sure. I can pray for a terrorist plane to run into every BOA main office cant I??
