I dont use banks anymore. They have caused me great loss in recent times. I find it much cheaper to buy postal money orders to pay bills. It's also much much safer to keep my money in a shoe box then to let a bank have to give away.
All banks and their junk fees can all burn in hell.

Or other things happen, like the woman in Israel who threw out her mothers mattress, only to learn later that her mom had stuffed the mattress with her life savings .. almost $1 million dollars.

I got that covered. It's still far safer then letting the bank have (and give away) my money may they all burn in hell

I love it, too! My checkbook is basically used only for odds and ends once in a blue moon.

Their customer service sux, though, if you're unfortunate enough to need it.
|
Yeah, they can be a PITA at times, but usually things get done eventually.

I once read a true crime book about a Doctor who distrusted banks in West Virginia. He had a storage place in his house, and over the years, the money kept stacking up, new upon old. When he'd buy something, he only grabbed money from the top. He paid everything in cash, cars and all. But it didn't go detected by the local populace, this guy paying cash for everything, and no bank account.
Anyone curious enough in that small community, would know that this guy was stashing it away in his house.
But where? They all knew it was there, but where? where? where?
Well, as to be expected, he was robbed finally.
And the funny part: After decades of piling new money atop of the old, there was lots of money at the bottom which had all but rotted away, was all but worthless.
So the lesson here is: take from the bottom, or flip the pile over after awhile.

I have little caches all over the house. A little pot for car repairs, one for travel, one for house repairs, one for clothes, one for food, one for my funeral one day.
Only thing is, I'm getting older and forgetful, which, can be a blessing in disguise.
About a year ago, I had to shift around some furniture in the living room, and under one of the carpets was $700! Where on earth did it come from? Who put it there?
Well, I wasn't going to call the police to launch an investigation on whose money it was, I just went out and spent it like a drunken sailor!
Who knows, how much more is lying around in this house and the garage as I'm forever shifting hiding places, finding new ones, forgetting where the old ones were. I'm sure there'll be more surprises in the future as I've been, lately, even burying it underground, a little here, little there.

You do know you're allowed to make withdrawls whenever you need to, right?

I used to stash cash in my old, moldy basement. One day, I went to check on my stash and found that all the bills were moldy. I had to put thousands of dollars cash though the washer & dryer (I used those lingerie bags to keep it all together). The bills were wrinkled when they came out of the dryer, so then I had to iron them all. Money laundering, literally.
I've got no basement now, and keep it all in the bank.
