Hi everyone. I was just curious if anyone here has any major debt and if so how much? Currently I have a massive student loan debt of about $113,000. Just paid off all my credit cards which was about $5000. Other than student loans I have no other debt. Anyone else in the same boat?

$113k in student debt? Ouch, I'm so sorry.

---
We actually are very lucky to have no debt at all. Granted, we rent at the moment so we don't have any "healthy" debt like a mortgage--but yeah, no car payments, student loans or cc debt. Never have had any.

We went to colleges where 75% was paid for by a state scholarship program, we drive an older (but reliable, a 1998 Lexus LS) car and live within our means. We treat our one credit card as kind of an escrow account of sorts that we have to pay off in full each month. If we can't afford it, we don't buy it.

Although I know that some debt (student loan for example) is beyond one's control, but other than that--being debt free can be done. It's not always "fun" to not buy new things and eat at home every night, and it takes restraint at times, but not having the worry of being in debt in worth it, IMHO.

I have no debt. I use my credit cards and pay them off every month. I live below my means but I am having a hard time because I have friends I am trying to help. They are unemployed and close to being newly homeless.

No credit card debt. Pay off in full every month.

No student loans. Two years of community college paid for with savings, part-time job, scholarships, and grants. Two years of University, paid for with savings, part-time job, scholarships, and grants. I lived at home and drove a ratty 15 year old Datsun held together with baling wire

No car payment. Bought my truck 5 years ago with my Heloc and paid it off in 18 months.

Less than 48 payments due on the mortgage. Will be less than 48, since I'm throwing every spare dime at the loan every month.

Take care of yourself first, or you won't be able to help anyone.

The debt we have is our mortgage - we have one home paid for but, are paying on a second. Our vehicles are older and paid for. I do not know how people manage to have two car notes, a house note, school, (we pay for private) and all the other household bills such as electric, groceries etc. I guess that is what the credit cards are for. I have been unemployed for 9 months now and can thankfully say we haven't had to give up much. The reason is that we have very little debt.

The private school is killing us but, it is necessary. I hope we can get the mortgage paid off early because the lay-off has eaten a lot of our savings and I never want to feel frightened about how to pay bills again. I finally found employment and will begin next week hopefully.
