It depends on how far back in time you'd consider. Years in the past I have done that $25 thing, but not lately. Groceries cost more now for one thing. I'd say about $300 a month is as low as I have gone in the last couple of years.
We dont really budget but I would say we spend about $150 a week in groceries and $200 a week in dining out on the weekends. There are 3 of us though, I am sure it would depend on the size of the family

Wow! 800 a month to dine out? Or do you dine out every week?

If you spend $800.00 month dining out where do you dine ? It sure isnt fast food. Must be nice.
What is the smallest amount of grocery-money you and your family have survived on for an entire week?
In mid 2000's my wife and I would survive on $100/month total so $50 each per month eating lots of pasta, bread, etc. Now we're up in the mid-200's for two, eating much more meat (without hormones) and healthier products. I also leave for 3-4 days at a time and spend around $10-$15 for those 3-4 days when I bring my cooler, that amount is also included in the above figures.
