About another $800,000 in various investments

I'll be doing my definitive balance sheet for year end in the next week or so.

Not enough! I have enough for about 2 1/2 months of living expenses, which is almost nothing. My investments are all in my 401(k) and the company's retirement plan, so I don't count those.

We just paid cash for a house, replaced some non-functional appliances, and bought stockade fence. That leaves us just about $12K in the bank.

Between my small pension and Social Security I have "enough" so I consider myself "rich".

Life ,for me, is not about money or the making of it. Life is about the gifts God gave me in a wonderful family, a warm place to live and enough of the other material things in life to support and entertain me. Beyond that money is just dirty paper to store.

IMO more people would be much happier ,and worry less, if they would come to understand the simple "concept of enough".

Some thoughts about the Concept of Enough.......

http://grant-adams.wsu.edu/family_li...vember2003.pdf

http://www.martingover.com/1475/the-concept-of-enough/ (broken link)

Last but not least the promise of God.....
"Matthew 6:25-34
"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.""
