These threads are kind of pointless as typically those who respond are those doing well. This would not represent the medium.
Really though, I think it's all about perspective. It's hard to find a one-size-fits-all baseline to measure how well you're doing.
"Are you on track?" needs to have "the track" defined before you can answer the question. And that's only one form of motivation.
What I really like about these forums is the constant reminder that no matter how well you're doing, there are people doing better. Whether it's real or not doesn't matter, as long as it's used as motivation. It's worked for me so far.
I know that my household is far beyond the medians for income/wealth by several dimensions like age cohort, education level, etc. But having role models here helps keep that in check, so we don't lose momentum.

I don't get that sense reading this thread. You see everything from 38 yr olds with 800k saved for retirement already and 29 yr olds with 15k. And everything in between. It doesn't seem like other forums which totally skew towards 35 yr olds with a half million plus; seems like a more realistic cross section from across the U.S./various income levels etc.
Notes:
- 529 is a little behind. Will work on it this year
- Started a new job recently, need to think about transferring old 401k to IRA. May go with Vanguard
This is awesome. Very good job. IS the 750k the value of the home, or the equity you have in it?

other forums have people who focus on building their wealth... this forum you get people whining about how they can't find a job and insist on blaming the economy. Different view points that change how people "invest/save". Few are going to be investing if they think they need the money next month.
403b- 1800, just started in January
Roth IRA - over 11k started in November of last year
457 - 0, just started
PERS- 20k
I hope to have about 12k in my 403b by the end of the year.
May I ask why you prefer 403 vs 457? 457 can be withdrawn without penalties when you leave the current employer.
