I had a German Shepherd as a guard dog, they are very protective.

absolutely. If you're good to them (unfortunately, many times even if you're not), they're loyal, affectionate and trustworthy. With people, you just never know...

Just think about people for a second, and then animals, isn't it a pretty easy choice regarding trust.

Dogs will love you unconditionally if you show them some attention; even more so when you raise them as pups. And as a previous poster said, they will protect you regardless the size of the enemy.
As for cats: In my experience, cats have a way of knowing when you are sick or sad and will lay next to you as a way of providing emotional support.
So to answer the OP's question: yes, I do trust animals more than people.

I can honestly say that I do, how about you?

I wouldn't neccessarily say I trust them more, but they are more predictable.

I certainly do, but if you let the people on the Great Debate forum (thread ... woman kills dog), they'll think you belong on a shrink's couch and are a complete mental case. Oh my gosh. I can't believe some people. "The more I'm around people, the more I love my dogs."

Me too, but Cats. I love dogs also and all animals more than people.
People have the capacity to be cruel and to commit crimes. An animal will not lie and steal from you. People are becoming more and more evil!
