I'd stop trying to defend this or any other breed. People (sheeple) should always be as prepared as possible.
If a dog attacks you or your leashed dog, then shoot or spray the damn dog (or both) no matter what breed it is. Unless it's a little rat dog you could drop kick into next week.
People should not walk around in life unaware of their surroundings.

So walk around armed??? Geez, why does that just not sound like me??? LOL!
I DO carry a 42" cattle prod when we walk just for cases like a stray animal of any sort coming up on us - or a stray person who is stupid enough to want to attack someone walking two 120 lbs. Rottweilers at one time. I've not had to use it, but it makes me feel better to know I have SOMETHING to protect both of us with that was $60 at the feed store.

There you go, a few wild swings and connecting of that cattle prod would do the deed. Yes armed. The more good people armed the better.
Many people go through life oblivious to the fact that we all have that bullseye, and it's just a question of WHEN.
Hey we have HO insurance for out homes which most of will never have to use and other unfortunate people will. But we still have it as a preventative measure.
We should look at the REAL world that way too. Anything to give us a fighting chance because you never know when or where it will happen?
That's why I have the TRAINED dogs, the glocks and the spray. I couldn't run 1 block to save my life so I have to stand my ground. The dogs will give me the time to think and make the more serious decision if I have to.
When these things happen, they are fast.......... and it takes the human mind time to process and make a decision, on the other hand a trained dog sees one of it's training scenarios 'going down' and doesn't have to think, he just reacts.

Doesn't matter where...
Folks, this is a thread there are some problems with that keeps drifting off course. Let's right the ship - doesn't matter where someone is a firearms instructor.....irresponsible owners is the topic...gentle reminder.

A Charlotte man whose new hobby is raising goats, went out to his farm this morning and made a grisly discovery. Two of his pet goats were dead and the other 8 were missing. A closer look at the bodies of the dead animals revealed that the goats had been attacked and partially eaten. When Mr. Tsoulos decided to walk towards the back of the pasture to search for his remaining herd, he came face to face with his pets killer.
Thankfully the only casualties were 2 pregnant goats. There are a few children in the neighborhood that were not out at the time. The man who owned the property was not attacked by the dog, and neither was any other human.
The officer refused to take the dog away. The dog's owner was not home, and knew that the dog was out on the run. He couldn't find it before he left for work, so he left it loose and went to work. When Mr. Tsoulos and his daughter asked what to do with the goats bodies, the officer told them to cut off their heads, hang them upside down to drain out the blood, and eat the meat.
Today the dog is home with his owner & his wife, 18 month old son and a pet rottweiler or two. All he has to do is pay a few fines and compensate Mr. Tsoulos for his pets.
Tomorrow the dog is home with his owner & his wife, 18 month old son and a pet rottweiler or two, but it gets loose again and eats a few more goats (the Animal Control Officer did say the meat was good), or maybe it will decide to take a sample of the neighbors kids, or even the owners son......
The dead goats are in plastic garbage bags at the side of the road waiting to be picked up.
Mr. Tsoulos put a lot of time, money and energy into maintaining and raising the goats. He is going to miss out on the first births of baby goats on his new farm. He did what any responsible pet owner is supposed to do. He provided a fenced in environment for his pets, and fed and watered them everyday. He repaired the barn and any openings in the fence promptly, and gave them the proper medical attention and vaccinations they were due. Even though he is to be compensated for his loss, he must now go out to his farm in fear of finding this or something worse.
The daughter has a speeding ticket to take care of.

Truly sad. And the Officer, what's he smoking, with his attitude?
How the heck did the dog get into the fenced in environment to the goats anyway?
Anyone who lets their creatures (whatever they are) roam freely to cause mischief or harm should be fined big-time and then some. Neighbors should haul them off to court on the charges they should be filing if they must fear for safety. (People are suing dry cleaners for millions because of dumb clothes, so why not fight fire with fire?)
One of our neighbor cats kept messing with our birdhouse, and leaving heads of things under our cars in the driveway. Boy did I want to let the dogs out just once whenever I saw the thing loitering on our lawn!!
Hope I'm not off topic. I haven't mentioned Brittany sp -- er I mean the breed of dog
