They tried to find a home for him, but they couldn't. So they took him to the 'shelter' and since they never adopt out 'pit bulls' he was put to sleep.
I think the owners got fined for leash law and rabies violations, but that's it. Tha animal control guy was an idiot. I still can't believe he told us to eat the goats...
Thank you for your sympathy(?). I love dogs and I think I can deal with them better than people! And btw, I didn't feel anger directed towards me in any post from anyone.

"Thank you for your sympathy(?)." What's the (?) for? lol! You're welcome, and like I said, I'm just glad that no one got hurt.. Besides the poor goats that is. I can't believe that they ACO told you to eat the goats?! I would have had a few words with him! lol! It's sad that the dog did get put down, but it doesn't really sound like he had the best owners, so it might have been the best thing. I am upset that the owners didn't get seriously punished, but I guess there isn't too much anyone can do about that. At least everyone is okay and something was done about it.
Just this week we had a Border Collie orderd to be put down for three things 1) No proof of shots, 2) Dog at Large, 3) Vicious Dog. It killed 5 sheep, hes five sheep, and yes its a border Collie. The lady will appeal and win, because there is no current law saying an dog is vicious if it bites another dog, only a person.
dumb selfish humans who know nothing .. **** please

From this story to the elderly handicapped woman attacked in her own home this week after two pit bulls broke into the house, to the plethora of other stories, it IS the dog, not JUST the owner.
Let the pit bull apologists come running to this thread to defend these disgusting beasts, now....
There, I said it.

human life is more valuable but there is also other living things out there that should strongly be defended for [PITBULLS] due to [mod]edit[/mod]selfsh human beings out there WHO DOES NOT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE [mod]edit[/mod] BREED. just cause there has been many reports about pitbulls being the most "dangerous dogs out there" does not really mean it is really. [mod]edit[/mod] it depends on their owner who breeds them that way and to use them for the most ridiculous things to get money and entertainment, thats how the pitbull reputation went bad. ITS THE OWNERS FAULT FOR RAISING THE PITBULL IN A DANGEROUS WAY, NO NEED TO WISH FOR THESE POOR BREED OF DOGS TO DIE AND TO BE EXTINCT!

I really hate to tell you this but any dog, left to his own devices would do the same thing. Dogs are carnivores.
I live in the country. There are no pit bulls here but my neighbors have several dogs that are allowed to run loose. They have killed all of the wildlife here and I've broken up more than one vicious fight between them and large "visiting" dogs which they've decided that they don't like for whatever reason. One of the dogs drug up a deer one day... don't know the story of how it died.
My neighbor who owns the pack of dogs actually works for a veterinarian. One would think that they - of all people - would know what it means to be a responsible pet owner and would take better care of their animals.... and keep them confined.
There are plenty of positive stories around about Pit Bulls if you would open your minds. They were once America's most popular family pet.
The bottom line is always the owners who are at fault -- regardless of the breed of the animal.
Smoke....fire...
does not take a genius to see there is a problem with the breed.
Ridiculous. The reason why pits and Rotties are the most responsible for attacks are because pits and Rotties are the most maltreated of breeds! I cannot tell you how many times I've met people pit bull puppies they got with the sole intent of breeding them, think they were going to make some money. Money breeding? HA! You're the crookedest SOB on the planet if you're a wealthy breeder. Worse, nearly all of them are like me - young and poor! Meaning they do not have the money nor the resources to properly breed ANY dog, and certainly not a pit!
Likewise, when my best friend's family got a rescue pit puppy, every three days, they were hearing, "So, when you gonna breed it?" and were shocked to learn they had no such intentions. When I got my lhasapoo, nobody asked me about breeding, because you're not a bad ass when you own a lhasapoo.
Now, I won't lie - I'd never own a pit or a Rottie - but I can say that my friend's pit is the laziest, sweetest, biggest baby in the history of the breed. That's because she's treated like a PET, not a money-making machine. Face it, every 20 years, there's a new breed of dog you're not supposed to own. First it was the bloodhound. Then it was the coon dog. Then it was the Doberman. Then it was the Rottweiler. Now it's the pit bull. What about those damn Pomeranian? Evil little things...
All bitey and yappy and people think it's cute, only because they don't draw blood. Well let me tell you, it certainly isn't for lack of trying.....I bet they wish they had bigger jaws....
I have shot dogs of MANY different breeds that were after stock or menacing me or my family on our place. Yea one or two Pits. I did not find the Pits to be any more or less dangerous than the mixed breeds, or pleathora of other ferals I've had to deal with. ANY dog that has been mistreated, or dumped and left to fend for itself will turn nasty in a hurry. The flat WORST one I ever had to face off with was just a nondescript mutt of formidible size, it was scruffy and long haired, lop eared, . I caught him on the back pasture trying to drag down a new foal. When he saw me coming on my horse he circled around my flank and squared off. He stopped a .45 Colt from my saddle rifle PRONTO. If I had been on foot and unarmed he could and would have killed me easy. I don't see Pits being ANY worse than any other breed of canine. The aforementioned MUTT could have chewed up and spit out any Pit I've ever seen. All the Pits freinds of mine have had, that were raised as FAMILY dogs were just big dopey yup yup types. Just like any other properly treated dog would be. If I had to pick a breed that I don't trust it would be the CHOW. But dogs are dogs all in all and thats just a personal dislike of mine. I had to clean up behind two Chows that were running amok here once and what they did made coyotes look cuddly..
Where is the pet responsibility. I am sorry but if you have dogs, such as pit bulls, there are things you can do to make your yard safer. There are also leash laws put into place in most States. I know of people who have pit bulls for pets, from when they were babies, animals, are not born to be mean, they learn it by very irresponsible pet owners. My daughter when she was only 4 was attacked and bit by a Larger Poodle, i don't go around putting down all pet owneres whom own a poodle, the people did not take care of this dog. Any dog can have a tendacy to be mean. We need to start going after irresponsbile pet owners, and those who own certain dogs for a profit, that is mean in itself. I feel very sorry for what happened, but also don't like the comment the police officer made. Any breed of dogs, that are mistreated, and left to fend for themselves, can turn mean in a hurry. Too many people own pets, that cannot take care of their own children, sorry, so why should they even own a pet. And i do agree, that whatever the breed, there are some animals that for some reason, just have a mean streak, but you cannot hate the whole breed, because of some that are mean and not trustworty. Pet owners, need to start with being responsbile for their own pets, something needs to happen, to the pet owners, where they let their dogs run free, not on a leash, don't take proper care of their pet, something really needs to be done, what i don't know.We have had Rott's from babies, the sweetest dogs, all they use to do was lick you to death, she loved people with a passion. It is how people raise their animals, lets go after these people, that should not own a pet period.
