I have been feeding my cats purina pet food for years but after reading many complaints about their pet food i have my doubts. Its pathetic how purina reduced the sizes of their dry cat food by as much as 2 lbs (18 lb bags are now 16 lb bags) & the prices are still high.

ALL foods "produced" in the US right now has all reduced sizes & upped prices due to the economy. Moderator cut: off topic

And it's still mostly CHEAP fillers that are of little or no use to the cat. Stick to canned food for your cats.

Its absolutely discusting how alot of things have gotten smaller. Go to the 99.9 cent store & you will see ALOT of what im talking about. I only buy if i really need the item. At the supermarket a box of hostess cupcakes or twinkies or ding dongs, etc used to be 16 oz then 14 oz & now 12.2 oz. I stopped buying them. I bet if the greedy oil companies could market gas at a 1/2 gallon instead of 1 gallon they surely would.

Just about all of the complaints are of peoples' pets, both dogs and cats, experiencing the same symptoms -- such as lethargic, vomiting, diarreah... and some dying; others becoming well again if the vast array of Purina foods were removed from their respective diets in time.

^This. If more people read the ingredient panel, intended for carnivorous mammals, there would not be enough consumer attorneys to go around!

Don't switch to meow mix. It has just as many complaints as Purina. If I was going to feed a grocery store brand of dry cat food, I would actually choose a Purina product- the Purina One Beyond in the yellow bag. It doesn't have all the corn and fillers of the other Purina products, Meow Mix, Iams and the other products on grocery store shelves.

Throwing up should not be accepted as usual. It's not "normal" cat behavior. I would bet money the barfing is being caused by grain in the poor quality cat food. They need healthy grain free canned food or raw diet.

snce when was throwing up "usual" or "normal" it is NOT normal for any animal to vomit, vomiting is a sign of gastric distress.

i dont care so much about the high cost vs less in a bag issue, i grow my own produce and know that the price to PRIUCE these foods has gone up...they can either make the bags smaller and charge the same or keep the bags the same and charge more...

BUT, the quality of the ingredients is JUNK...
the only thing purina and sci-die and puke-a-nuba are good for is putting some extra fat on pigs and chickens before the winter comes in since they are primarly corn and animal fat.
