Thumbs up Petfinder.com

I do alot of volunteering at the local SPCA and I love it! Currently I am in charge of the web photography team who goes in and takes pictures of all the doggies and kitties waiting for good homes. We post our pictures with very detailed descriptions on petfinder and hope that they will be seen and fallen in love with.

I'm just curious to see how many people here check out petfinder? I always like to feel that our efforts are worth it and I believe they are. I know several animal shelters throughout the country use it as well. Its free and its a great way to see what's available in your area.

Anyone here find their animal off of petfinder?

I got my three dogs through Petfinder.com two years ago. I live in MA but they were in TN. I made two trips to bring them back. My tenant just got a puppy through Petfinder from Louisiana. He brought her up through a transport service.

I almost took a bloodhound through petfinder from a rescue..Then when called lady asked on shots heartworm test and all she had no clue but said all up to date..Ok can deal with shots so say ok will meet pick him up she said ok bring a coolar and checkbook..Said ok how much for him, she said $500.00 to cover all cost..Well he was not neutered , she would give no history on shots and so said heck with it as felt she a ******* that was stealing dogs and selling them. All other dogs from rescue she said was from were 250 neutered/spayed and up to date on shots.

Rescue I worked with did alot on petfinder though and those all found great homes.

I found my Jazzy on petfinder.com. When I was looking to adopt a second dog I spent many hours on there looking at the pictures and reading the information. I think it's a wonderful site (when used correctly).

I actually found my dog, Chipper, on petfinder.com. I then contacted the foster and agency that had posted him. I had a really good experience w/ petfinder.com and intend on using it again when I am ready to get my next dog.

Annie the mixed-terrier came via Petfinder as well as Yoshi the Japanese Chin.

With 5 dogs, our limit is reached, but I still find myself looking at the site and wishing we could take in more dogs. Sometimes, when one particularly sad case appears (all are sad, but some just break your heart when you read of their circumstances) I'll send in a small donation; $5 or $10; to help sponsor the needs of that animal before a Forever Home is found for it.
