So now the animals will have no voice or protection assistance by the government. Inhuman puppy mills will not be publicized for citizens to know about and pet shops will continue to buy animals from them. Sad story about regulations being overturned and for what reason?

Quote:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) today removed public access to tens of thousands of reports that document the numbers of animals kept by research labs, companies, zoos, circuses, and animal transporters—and whether those animals are being treated humanely under the Animal Welfare Act. Henceforth, those wanting access to the information will need to file a Freedom of Information Act request. The same goes for inspection reports under the Horse Protection Act, which prohibits injuring horses’ hooves or legs for show.

The Humane Society of the United States said in a statement: “This action benefits no one, except facilities who have harmed animals and don’t want anyone to know.”

Disgusting. Please keep it to the animals and don't get political.

Pound Seizure is a disgusting business. It should have been banned long ago, and it says a lot about a corrupt system, that it's continuing on. As taxpayers, we have the right to know how our tax dollars are being spent. We seem to be back peddling instead of moving forward. Pound Seizure is like something out of the fifties/sixties. Why this backward and cruel practice is continuing today, is hard to comprehend, even though the bottom line is money.

"No voice or protection"?
FYI, the USDA is the chief prosecutor of animal abuse in the country. Does the Michael Vick case ring a bell?

Did you not read the news reports about the new policy? In the interest of being "transparent," they have decided ... to not be transparent.

Disgusting.
