One thing I've been talking about for years is doing the benefits and events for this organization. Well this year is the year I'm doing it! I've signed up for their Walk for the Animals in Feb and am going to a high end event for them in March. Its for an awesome cause and I can feel awesome donating my money to a much needed cause!! Although I cannot emotionally handle volunteering at the shelter, (And I don't my landlord would like 50 cats her their apt) I do plan on donating goods they need for the animals..Yea for me!!!

That's awesome! My youngest daughter volunteers for the HS in Naples. She said they had the TV crew in there filming the Happy Tails show and she thinks she was in the background. She got all excited!

Yeay, sounds fun!
I hope you are able to help in the shelter someday, it really is good for the pets! Just make them promise NOT to let you adopt!!!!

Good for you. Animal activists protest shelter’s euthanasia policy - Miami-Dade - MiamiHerald.com (http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/02/15/2068086/animal-activists-protest-miami.html - broken link)

It makes me sad that there are so many stray animals in Miami, I don't know why that is...This group thinks that the shelter in Miami should be a "no-kill" shelter...the problem is, that does not work very well, they tried that in Vegas, and it failed.

Well, I adopted one stray, so there is one less out there...one that did not go to the shelter.
