According to Yahoo, several states including New York, have passed a new law to protect animals, in domestic violence issues. Victims now can add them on Orders of Protection, along with the children, and the perpetrator will be given additional criminal charges. This came as a result of a case in Brooklyn, NY, where a boyfriend threw all the clothes of his girlfriend out of a third-floor window, along with her little dog, and the dog died in the fall. He faces a stiff sentence, close to 15 years' in jail, because he could also have easily killed innocent, walking pedestrians. New York also have stiff sentences in place for anyone who abuses an animal, in addition to domestic violence.
Need more of this then maybe some would think before beating a innocent animal out of rage.
