I agree, I understand not wanting to own one as well but just not having any feelings or worse yet wishing harm to them, those people are very iffy to me.

It's incomprehensible to me, too, but I'd much rather know someone who doesn't like them and doesn't own any than someone who says they do then ties their dog up outside and ignores him or abuses him in any other way. That breaks my heart.

I worked with a woman once who was from Mexico. (Mind you, these people were very "upscale" Mexican people, father was a professional, nice house, nice car, nice clothes). Her mother lived with her and was "bored" because she apparently had nothing to do during the day. I recommended to her to volunteer her time at the animal shelter because they always needed people to walk the dogs and socialize the kittens.

You would have thought I had suggested to open a porn shop. The look on her face was priceless....."what touch those dirty animals????" Apparently, people in Mexico do not have the same attitude toward "pets" as we do, or so I was told later).

Personally, I would never trust someone who did not like animals. Our next door neighbor hated dogs and she was a total weirdo. Mind you, I am much more a cat person than a dog person, but I would never say that I hate them.

People who don't like animals are just not "right". Maybe they would have a bad experience growing up or something, but to have the whole bunch of them be anti-animal is just freakin' weird if you ask me.

Apparently, that's not necessarily true. Cesar Millan and his dad and grandfather proved that. You can't have that big an understanding and relationship with dogs without a lot of love.

As I said in my last post, it's incomprehensible to me to not like animals--all kinds, all animals. But I've known some pretty freaky and downright cruel animal owners and some very kind people who aren't animal lovers. I think the ones who aren't into pets aren't untrustworthy but more wrapped up in themselves and their lives. That doesn't make them weirdos.

Blanket statements do nothing but cover the truth. I reiterate, I know a lot of pet owners who are 'just not right' so who's to say?

Well you have a good point - I have a tough time volunteering for shelter events where you meet the animal loving public - I want to beat half of them to a pulp. Please don't ever let anyone love me like that!

Still, people who express no feeling for animals - I'm not going to call them names or weirdo or off but....its such an alien thing to say I don't click with "them" would be the most huge understatement.

There are certain ethnic and religious cultures that have problems with pets, esp. dogs./cleanliness. So a hatred in that way can be easily explained. Usually though, I am rarely wrong, people that irrationally hate animals, are usually just a little too control freak-ish for me and I do not get along with them, in more ways than one.

I just can't trust people who don't have pets. Which is probably one additional reason why I didn't like Obama, lol.

Default A little poem for your wall...

I have no problem with people who don't like pets. I get a little annoyed when I walk my leashed dog and people go out of their way to avoid us.

I really don't have tolerance for people who come into our house and have a problem with our dogs. I don't mind somebody who is afraid and asks nicely to keep the dog away. But some people are just ridiculous about the whole thing.

I've saw this somewhere and have been hanging onto it for a while.. keep meaning to print it out and get a nice frame to hang by the front door. Feel free to print your own!

These are our dogs
This is their home

from which we hope
they'll never roam.

They're faithful friends
we love them best.
This is their home
you are a guest.

If our dogs to you
are just a peeve.
Then by all means
feel free to leave
