Wow, that really makes it hit home that we are basically putting poison on our pets. Poor kitty. But what can ya do? The alternative is not so good, either.
Yes I did think about allergies with Elwood.
I have never had allergies in my entire life, but got cedar fever real bad in late January. There is always a first time.
Thing is, we are moving in May and will be in *somewhat* of a different environment. It would not hurt to get him checked out now though. He is not constantly scratching, but enough for us to take notice.

Default My two cents...

I have a golden retriever. I originally used frontine plus with him and that did NOT work. As of two and a half years ago I switched to Advantix and I have NEVER had a problem with fleas or ticks with him. Casper and I are overjoyed!!!

Wow! That's so good to hear since fleas manage to survive and reproduce 24/7/365 in Central & South Florida! We even spray our yard and they still manage to survive. I sometimes think the squirrels or other critters bring them into our yard.

My vet advised Advantix and it has worked for me. I have never tried Frontline so cannot say. My Shih Tzu has allergies and the vet claimed this would be the best.

I've heard my cats' Dr. recommend Advantix for dogs and Frontline for cats. Not sure why. I never asked about the Advantix since I only have cats and Frontline is what he told me to use.

Look at the main ingredient in advantix, and then look at the cheap stuff at the store. There's a reason it kills cats!

Unhappy In Desperate Search

I am a new pet owner and I want to make sure that my Chocolate Dachshund, Hershey, does not get bitten! I have researched for Frontline and researched K9 Advantix and they both sound really good! I just want whats best for him so I need some advice before I continue on with either! He stays in the house now and just goes on the puppy pads! He has not been outside since I got him! He is 13 weeks old and needs to go outside to the doctor to get shots! Please Help!

I used Advantage for several years then switched to Revolution. The cats don't mind it as much as the Advantage probably because the dosage is smaller and it doesn't smell as strong.

It costs about the same which is $10 per cat per month. I have six cats.

One of them has an allergy to flea bites and both the Advantage and the Revolution keep her free of fleas, but the Revolution also keeps them free of ear mites.

I have never noticed any ill effects from either one.

I have been using Frontline Plus on our dog and cats for a few years, mostly because it works on ticks in addition to fleas. One of our cats was continually coming in with ticks on his neck while using other products. With the Frontline, we never have a problem.

Currently, I am using Revolution on my cat and Frontline Plus on my dog.
We are now on the northeast side of Florida and have noticed more ticks around here than in our former location. Kitty and dog seem to do fine.
