I'd suggest you look into the better "natural horsemanship" instructors.

I think the best of them right now is Ed Dabney. He explains the why and the how of everything he does, which helps a student gain confidence in their results.

Mary Wanless also has some great stuff on riding, and how your possition effects your horses way of going.

Find a good instructor who will work with you.

Default A book to give you confidence by increasing your safety

I'm not sure of the etiquette of this, because I've come back to this forum becasue of an e-mail that said there were new threads to an olsd post (but I can't find it!)
I've written a new and particlularly beautiful book that shows you how to listen to your horse in an extraordinary way and how to use that to get the confidence and results of the gifted rider. Go and have a look at my website www.bookswithspirit.com and have a look at the book Bobby's Diaries - Straight from the Horse's Mouth to You. You may be intrigued, you may be challenged - but I promise you, you will not be diappointed in it. And I'll put my money where my mouth is and give you your money back if oyu don't love it!
It's an electronic book, you could be reading it in five minutes.
Gidday from Australia!
