Where is the outrage over Obama breaking his campaign promise to adopt a rescue dog? There is not even a whisper of it on PETA or Best Friends Animal Society's websites, two organizations who were very strong in pushing for it and who praised them endlessly when they announced they would adopt.

Did they get a dog yet? I haven't been following because it seems so silly to me that that was all we heard about that first week he moved in!

Class A deception again . another one of his kool aide things . It does not surprise me with someone who appears on the tv and seems to laugh everytime he is asked about the economy . well I am so glad he thinks our economy is something to laugh about . People living in tents and suffering and our president seems to find humor in it . I just hope he does something so that we as voters can impeach him . that would make my day !!! He obviously never had any intention of adopting a shelter dog in the first place . I know of very few people who make the kind of money that these two do adopt shelter dogs is all I am saying .

There is a thread running in "Dog" section if you care to jump in.
Personally, I don't care for the man's politics, but feels he had to make the right decision re allergies for his family.
As for his reneging on a statement...what else is new?

there's already a thread in the dog section and the politics section. Obama made that pledge before he had settled on a breed and purebred PWDs aren't that common in shelters. he did make a donation to a local shelter though. PETA and Obama haters will find reasons to complain anyways, it's what they do best

I am not a PETA person or an Obama hater. Making a donation to a shelter and then doing what totally undermines them is not helpful. It is the same as Al Gore going around spouting off to everyone about saving the environment and then using the amount of electricity to power his mansion as it takes to power a small city or Barbara Streisand claiming to be an environmentalist but breaking coastal protection laws to do what she wants on her Malibu beachside property. Its total self-righteous hypocracy. As long as they preach or give money it somehow excuses their behavior, its OK for others to do, but not them, etc.

When it comes to something like a dog is it reneging or changing ones mind re the allergy problems in the family and the need of a certain type of dog. Not too mention the symbolism in that the dog was bred by Ted Kennedy, Senator from Mass.

You need to re-read the news reports. The dog was NOT bred by Sen. Kennedy. The dog was returned to its breeder for not being suitable for its original owner. Kennedy then acquired the dog and gifted it to the Obama family. According to news reports, Kennedy owns three PWDs. That does not make him a breeder.

Has any of you who are being so critical of the Obamas ever changed your own mind about anything? Good grief, there are a lot of people who need to get a life.

You CAN find allergy friendly animals in shelters. There are many shelters nationwide to look into. He would have had access to all shelters. NOT to mention instead of getting a Portuguese water dog from a BREEDER he could have gotten one from a Portuguese Water dog rescue...Which I'm sure exist in multiple states.
