guinea pig
Anyone else have a guinea pig? I haven't seen any posts about one. I have a sweet male who was unwanted by his first two homes; I am his third and forever home. I do not know how old he is. My guess is around 4-5 years. I have had him for the past two years. He loves running outside in the grass and eating it of course! My dog and he are buddies.

I had one about 25 years ago, she was a real sweetheart. Sit in our laps and watch TV with us. She trained herself to the litterbox as well.

Have a pair of brothers here. Funny watching them and our 15 year old cat. Cat is afraid of them.

These are great pets. You give them some grass, clover or dandelion greens and they're your best friend. Or any veggies that get wilted. Then they also talk to you and welcome you with their oinking, squealing and whistling. You pet them and they'll purr for you.
Watching them run around is amazing. Long bodies and those tiny legs and they can still jump and hop. We had one that knew the way to the vegetable garden and to the porch and back and the step was no problem for him. I'd sit on the porch and keep an eye on him and he'd run back and forth and you knew he was happy.
It's funny though. As much as I love guinea pigs and have given them homes through the years, rats give me the heeby jeebies.

I had 2 when I was growing up. They were the funniest little things with their meeping noises, as I used to call them. I still have a few pictures of them in my album, and when I got married and dug out the album, my husband yelled, Oh my god, why are you holding a rat?! He was disgusted! I couldn't stop laughing.

We've had quite a few. They are very easy to care for and are cute little things. My daughter had one that was pregnant when we got her but we didn't know. We noticed she was a fat little thing then I picked her up and felt movement. The next day 3 little tiny, adorable fur balls were there!

My kids have 2 and they are the best pets ever. I fear one may be sick though. We lost one last year so its a sensitive topic for us. Trip to the vet tomorrow.
