So I am on vacation this week and of course that means extra trail rides. Today I took my mare out alone and we were having a good time stopping to graze along the trail. But she heard a noise in the brush and got pretty excited and of we went down the trail. Stopping now and then to snort and stare. I could feel Baby's heart pounding against my legs. She was really ready to bolt. We pranced and snorted down the trail and across a stream. And continuing into the woods. Just as we were moving along some tall grass...... it attacked! (actually it just darted across the path) Baby reared slightly and leaped straight up into the air, landing exactly where he had taken off. Luckily for me she is very well trained and responsive to my hands and legs so we did not head for the next county. Baby finally started breathing again as well walked on and just sat on her back laughing at her. My silly silly mare had been scared half out of her wits..... by a squirrel.
