what animal is this ?
I live in DE and have seen this critter twice and so has my husband. It looks and moves like a monkey but has rounded ears and a long skinny tail that is up in the air. Whatever it is, I have seen it crossing the road in front of my car and also along side of the road in a marsh area, not really near any homes so I don't believe it's someone's pet. Thought it could be a fox but with a skinny tail and rounded ears? Any thoughts??

Without a picture or a better description, it would be pretty hard to guess. Why not google wildlife native to Delaware.

LOL...I didn't think there was anyone who did not recognize a opossum. But who knows?

LOL you are correct... I do know what a possum looks like and this critter is much larger . I just saw a fox in that vicinity tonight but the tail on this unknown critter is upright, long and skinny and has round ears not pointed ones.

And it could be a monkey. We had tons of them in Naples that has escaped from the zoo during one of the hurricanes years ago. They've been living very happily in the area outside the zoo in the woods since then. You never know. Could have been someone's pet or something the got loose?

Actually there are lots of folks who have never seen a possum. We have a lot of them in Texas and, near me, "Possum Lake" was named for the critters. A friend of mine had a ring-tailed possum in her house and when she finally captured him she didn't know what it was. LOL. |

I am in Tx as well...we have opossums, and armadillo in our yard all the time.
Mrs. 1885...if it is a monkey, it is in for a rude awakening with the De winter coming on  |
