Question Mt Airy-Is it All It Claims to Be?
My wife and I are floating the idea of moving to Philly from DC. She is from NYC and I am from DC. We figure it will be 1/2 way between her folks and mine. We are looking for a diverse community with old Tudors and Victorians between 400 - 600K$. I just happened to see something on Wikapedia about the Mt Airy section of Philly and it seemed perfect. Is it all it is cracked up to be or are there better areas in the city limits that might be more to our liking... if we move?

West Mt. Airy is all that it's cracked up to be. Beautiful and diverse.

East Mt. Airy isn't bad either. It does happen to be a solid majority-black middle-class neighborhood.
