I live in Philly, and honestly, Geno's is still my favorite. It's definitely the most consistent when it comes to quality. At Pat's I've bitten into gristle numerous times, and once I thought I cracked my tooth. Jim's is good, but I prefer the meat to be sliced, not chopped. Ishkabibbles is good if you want onion rings and other stuff along with a cheesesteak.

Jim's and Ishkabibbles are on South St, Pat's and Geno's are at 9th & Passyunk

Default best...

Every Philadelphian knows (well I guess there's a few exceptions like a prior poster) that Pats and Geno's are tourist atractions, selling steaks fit only to be consumed if your half drunk at 3am....

Try Chinks in the northeast, or John's Roast Pork off of del ave if you want a real cheesesteak.
