Trenton burbs in PA
Our son just graduated from college and just got a job working in downtown Trenton. He will be relocating from Portland, OR so we know nothing at all about the area. Through research, we have decided that a burb in PA would probably work best for him. Can anyone recommend any safe cities/neighborhoods for a young 20-something to live? Any nice apartment complexes, 1BR, no more than $1000/month? He'll be commuting at off hours, so no more than 15 miles would be a good radius.
Also, we will be coming out next week to help him get setup. Can anyone recommend any decent motels in the same general area we can stay for a week?
Thanx.

You could stay in the NJ area and rent in Hamilton, Mercerville, Hamilton Square. They are outside of Trenton in nice areas. PA I would rent in Levittetown or Langhorne to be close to Trenton. Maybe try Yardley. Just be careful in Trenton. You dont want to end up in a bad section.

New Hope Pa. is a quaint little artsy town along the Delaware River that would be an excellent place to stay for a week. Its about 15 miles from Trenton. Its a small town but has some of the popular chain motels and lots of bed + breakfasts.
As far as apartments on the Pa. side. Under $1000 I'll throw out Levittown,Oxford Valley,Langhorne. Yardley Newtown and areas north of Rt 1 are nicer and of course more expensive.Definitely worth checking out.
Good luck.
Trenton is an old city which has seen better days. The Pa. towns immediately surrounding Trenton(Morrisville-Penndel) tend to be on the gritty side.

I recommend Yardley,New Hope,Morisville...Even parts of Huntingdon Valley as the commute would be about 30min and it's a nice area. I'm not too familiar with NJ.

I'm thinking the young man has probably made a decision by now.
