Hi.

Can somebody tell me the more-or-less acknowledged boundaries of Fishtown? As well as which street/streets are the primary business district(s) there?

TIA

girard ave and frankford ave are the historic commercial corridors but aramingo boasts the area's strip malls. fishtown runs from the river on the south, front st on the west, and the northern boundary is off debated.

York Street is the old-school definition of the northern boundary. That was primarily due to the fact that the Catholic school districting from way back in the day separated at York. Residents south of York attended Holy Name. North of York (Port Richmond) attended St Ann's. The political boundaries (separation by "wards" and "districts") cut Fishtown off at Norris Street. The current more widely accepted interpretation of Fishtown extends north to the natural delineation of Lehigh Avenue (railroad tracks). The eastern border is Aramingo Ave extending northward from the intersection of I-95, Girard Avenue to the south and Front Street to the west.

Think about it...Girard curves. At the curve, anything south of Girard becomes Northern Liberties.

think about what you're saying. fishtown has no waterfront? the riverfront is fishtown. anything south of frankford is northern liberties, north is fishtown

Located immediately northeast of Center City, its borders are somewhat disputed today due to many factors, but are roughly defined by the triangle created by the Delaware River, Frankford Avenue, and York Street. Some newer residents expand the area to Lehigh Avenue, while some older residents shrink the area to Norris Street.
