We plan to relocate the East coast, either Philly or NJ but are unsure about the neighborhoods. We saw affordable homes & reasonable property taxes in Fox Chase. Does anyone know anything about the Parkcrest Section?

The Fox Chase area is a pretty nice section of Phila. When doing a real estate search use the zip codes 19111, 19115 and 19152. It's a pretty safe area. It's on the edge of the Philly border so you should look into the suburban towns as well such as Cheltenham and Rockledge. You'll save on taxes in you live and work outside the city. If your main interest in that area is simply the prices, there are plenty of other areas for you to look into as well. Too many to even go into when you say you're thinking about either Philly or NJ.

I grew up in Fox Chase and am in the neighborhood all the time due to family and never heard of Parkcrest. There are some properties in the area that are up for sale right now. Its a good, quiet, family-oriented neighborhood, close to both the suburbs (which can literally start across the street) as well as 30 minutes by commuter rail from downtown Philly. Love it.

I agree, foxchase would be a great choice for a safe affordable home in Northeast Philadelphia. I worked there for a while and you can get a twin or a single home there for around $200K. Close to the train station that takes you downtown and you can walk to locak shops and pennypack park that has a nice walking and biking trail.

Good luck!
