My family and I are being relocated from Chandler AZ to PA. My husband will be working in Upper Gwynedd. What is a good city for us to rent a home in? Our rental budget is $1600 - $2300. Need 3 bd w/office or den. I also need a good school district and some night life. Things to do with the kids would be ideal as well. Parks, museums possibly a zoo?

What do you think about Blue Bell, Ambler, Doylestown, Mongomeryville, Lansdale, E Norriton?? Would any of these be a good bet?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I really like Doylestown, and think has everything you're looking for. The Mercer & Fonthill Museums are really great for kids. Its main downside is that it's somewhat inconvenient to Philadelphia, if that is important to you.

Thank you! Do you have to go all the way to Philly for nightlife?

Doylestown is great, but it's a bit far if you plan on going to Philly's museums, zoo and events on a regular basis.

Ambler, Horsham or Abington/Glenside are all great school districts and can give you a good suburban life while still staying closer to Philly.

All of the towns you've mentioned are accessible by regional rail so you can get to the city for nightlife. Doylestown has things to do day and night, unless you are looking for some sort of multiple bar hopping action.

Can you define more specificaly what nightlife is? In the suburbs it is pretty much dinner and a movie. If you are looking for a bar/tavern they are also found in most suburbs. Live theater, opera, ballet, concerts as well as nightclubs that tend to be age specific with live music are pretty much only in the city.

This pretty much sums it up. However, there are some decent concert venues in the suburbs, such as the Keswick Theater in Glenside (about 45 min from Doylestown) and the Sellersville Theater in Sellersville (about 35-40 minutes from Doylestown).

Okay, so we would be happy in Gywnedd, Blue Bell, Ambler, Willow Grove or Horsham? Which city would you pick?

I'd pick Ambler - more convenient to Center City and between the independent movie theater, the community theater, and the Ambler Symphony, there is more to do than most suburban spots. We were there last night (Saturday) and the main street (Butler Pike) was pretty lively.

My votes for you would be Doylestown (as long as you don't plan to go to center city too often) because you've got New Hope nearby which is an awesome time and lots of cultural stuff going on, as well as Ambler or Horsham
