We've lived in Havertown for the past 10 years but we'd like to move a bit further outside the city. We're considering Green Lane (a new home in the Candlewyck Estates development). I work in center-city and my wife works in Berwyn.

So my questions are:

1. Would our commutes be doable (i.e. not much more than an hour)?
2. How are the schools (Upper Perkiomen School District....we have 2 young kids)?
3. Is it a nice place to live (community, parks etc.)?

Many thanks in advance

An hour is likely if everything breaks perfectly

No idea on commute, but the schools are good and you've got the beautiful Green Lane Park right next to you.

Any updates here Phillychoppin? Wife and I are in Roxborough/Manayunk area and looking into Green Lane / Pennsburg area. I work in CC (for now) and she is in Conshy. We've driven the commute and it seems reasonable to me. I'd like to hear from folks who do it more regularly though.

If you want a rural suburb mix then Green Lane is the place for you. Not sure about the school district, but yes, it's a nice place to live generally. The parks are good.

If anything, I feel a lack of community BUT that's probably because I'm used to living in UK towns where everything is on my doorstep - ie a pint of beer or a pint of milk was always in walking distance. The girl scouts I recently bought cookies from were very polite

And yes, the commute should be doable. Longer than you are used to perhaps, but certainly manageable (I should add that I've never driven it myself - I'd drive to Lansdale and get the train which would take longer certainly but I'm still getting used to driving on the other side of the road, as it were).
