What areas in Philly are heavily Puerto Rican?
Anyone know what areas are heavily Puerto Rican. I know that is the largest Latino group in Philly. I'm from the hood, so I don't care how ****ty the area is. I just want to live it up for a few years until I can afford a nice home in a more decent area.
I heard Kensington is heavy Puerto Rican but what parts? Any other neighborhoods.
I was also thinking Camden NJ. I belive northern Camden is the Puerto Rican part correct? I figure some of you might know. I know Camden NJ is undesireable but so is the area I live in right now so it doesn't make a difference to me.
Don't take this in a racist way, I would just feel more comfortable among my own.

The Largest Puerto Rican population outside of Philadelphia is located in South Jersey (Vineland, NJ). Outside of that you have Bethlehem, PA(Eagles Camp), Allentown, PA, and Lancaster, PA.
You can find small pockets all over the metropolitan Philly Area!

There are Puerto Rican sections in North Philly, but I don't know what the boundaries would be. I think 5th & Lehigh is frequently referred to as the heart of the barrio here.
(You might want to try asking at phillyblog.com.)

Right around 5th and Luzerne. North of W Sedgley Ave., south of W Hunting Park Ave. Down Rising Sun Ave. Out towards N.Broad. On maps, Franklinville. But no one in philly calls the area that. City planners do. Note that it gets blacker the closer you get to N.Broad.

So what would be the exact boundaries of the Puerto Rican barrio in North Philly? Would it basically be east of N 10th Street lineing Kensington Ave to the east. E Girand North to E Roosevelt??
I was baseing it off this map:
Pictures a little small though. Plus it doensn't divide by ethnicity. I figure the bulk of that is Rican though, since they are the largest group in Philly and all other Latino groups seem to to insignificant in number.

I missed Nomad's reply earlier. But he's on point. 5th and Lehigh - around that area, north along the 5th street corridor to about West Hunting Park Ave, you'll find the Puerto Ricans.
I had a stint with AmeriCorp and spent 15 months at the Jose Clemente High School, located at 5th and Luzerne. Across the street is a Latino Supermarket, on the other side is a stripe club with mostly Latino women. All the store fronts in the area are Spanish. The area's restraunt menu's are en espanol. 5th and Erie has a taco truck, Papi's Tacos. Carne, cilantro, lime and tortilla. There's Puerto Rican flags hanging every where in the area, I didnt see one Mexican flag. And I think I mentioned to you before, Puerto Rican Day blows up along 5th street - along that corridor I mentioned above.

I wouldn't say the map is wrong. I mostly agree. However, the closer you get to Girard, Broad and Roosevelt, the blacker it gets. I can't comment about the eastern boundary as I never really ventured past 5th street.
