Default Doylestown/West Chester

Mid 40's RN wanting to relocate to Doylestown/West Chester area. Any info on hospitals and specific neighborhoods to check out or avoid appreciated.

they aren't located remotely close to one another - at least an hour apart. but both are great towns with very nice downtown areas and good schools. iin between the two, you have tons of nice areas with just about every kind of housing stock imaginable. the only place to "avoid" in that entire region may be Norristown. just comes down to the type of house you want, price point, and commute time.

Perhaps you meant Downingtown?

Default Doylestown/West Chester

Thanks for the responses...No, I didn't mean Downingtown, and I do know that Doylestown and West Chester are not close to one another. I'm just trying to research all options that allow me to be close to Philly. I am an RN so want to be close to hospital.

As far as housing, I will be renting. Currently live in historic home that has been renovated and I am within walking distance to downtown. Looking on CL is seems that I should expect to pay anywhere from 1000-1400 (know it could be more) for a 2 bedroom. Being close to train station also a plus.

So, that being said, let me know what you think! Thanks!!

i think it depends on where you work. obviously, the larger hospitals are in cener city / university city (Penn, Jefferson, Hanneman, etc). if you work in center city i wouldn't live in either west chester or doylestown. they are both at the very fringe of the commuting ring. closest hospitals to doylestown are Doylestown Hospital and Lansdale Hospital. if you work at one of those places, then i'm sure doylestown would be a great place to live. not very familiar with west chester.

One of my kids was born at Chester County hospital in West Chester. I love West Chester, but I didn't think it had rail service to Center City. I could be wrong.
