The Phillies-- where to start? Roy Halliday, Ryan Howard, Shane Victorino, Charlie Manuel... so many great guys on this team that just loves winning. My personal favorite is Cliff Lee. But it is so great having a team that just wants to win all the time. (This is a refreshing contrast to the Eagles, whose primary objective is to have the most Money Under the Cap.)

The Shore-- always nice to lay in the sun for hours. Obviously the shore is a great place if they made a show about it.

The Weather-- Summer Weather in our area is generally outstanding. We get enough hot and sunny days to go to the beach, but an occasional cloudy day or thunderstorm to prevent it from being oppresive. And summer nights are absolutely spectacular. Warm and humid, with a touch of haze, but a bit cooler from the heat of the afternoon.

The Food-- BBQs, Ice Cream, Pizza down the Shore, Pretzels from the lunch carts. There's always a ton of good food to eat in our region, year round. We are very blessed in that department. But i think i eat more pizza during the summer than I do the rest of the year. Nothing like coming up from the beach for a nice salty slice.

The Girls-- Obviously the summer would not be the same without all the beautiful women everywhere. Unfortunately, i do not do nearly as well with the Ladies as i would like. But still, it is nice to have the girls come out of hibernation. It makes the work day a lot more pleasant when you get to take a walk on your lunch break and take in some easy-on-the-eyes surroundings.

Anyway, is anyone else getting really excited for summer??

All of the events and festivals. Media has constant block parties, Linvilla Orchards has different festivals, Rose tree park always has bands performing. And west Chester street fairs. I love being out on a nice summer night enjoying food and music.

Don't even think about trying to live here without A/C. You will regret it sooner or later.

If you live in Center City or any commercial neighborhood with resturants you are going to notice the smell of rotting garbage. Some days are better than others depending on weather conditions.

yea seriously the city tends to reak in the summer, if you live near any restaurants, forget it. it will stink. that being said i agree with most of the OPs statements, aside of the weather. it is far from "outstanding". more like really uncomfortable. nasty humidity.

I think maybe I'm weird - I LIKE heat & humidity in the summertime. Everyone walking slow...wearing tanktops...eating ice cream/water ice...swimming outdoors... that's summer to me. Those things are just not the same if it's 70 degrees or whatever.
And you can always go to someplace air conditioned if you really want to. That's what life is like in Florida for much of the year, and people don't complain about Florida weather, they embrace the lifestyle.

Do you think your lack of success with the opposite gender could the fact the you call them "The Girls" or believe that they hibernate?

As for the weather, this is our first summer in Philly after over two decades in Houston. So tell me - when does the humid season start here?
