Unhappy Best Areas? Old Question but I'm getting lost in the threads

I'm considering rer-locating to Philly, lived there 16 years ago but am being told by different friends what's the best place now. Havertown, Broomall are two I recall. Costs are a concern but that should work out once the courts finshes up the old blood froma stone thing. My wife and I are divorcing after 25 years, long story but she refuses to seek medical advice for depression, so we're now going to have to make drastic financial changes to be able to split. can't afford two homes on one income, another story. She can stay in NC and I'll move some where else, a Philly company has an attractive package before me that I need to consider. Can't see my kids cause of the restraining order she lied her way into so I don't know how they even feel about this but I'm not going to have contact with them for some time and need to make decisions to protect them from her. So, where too? Buy or rent, figure 250K to buy and 2K to rent a few bedrooms place which shold leave me what the state decides. The job is in center city so I'd really not want to drive into the ciy each day so a train would be nice.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in adavnce. Sorry for this I'm certain to be a duplicate somejher! Tom
