I think I saw some pictures, on the city archive site, where there were awnings at ever window. Something that we would not do now but was really cool looking decades ago.

I like it as well. It makes SEPTA look more polished as a transit system.

I agree to a certain extent that I thought it would be.... more or something idk. However in the grand scheme of things there are going to be a lot more digital signage and lights that will draw the eye. That building is already amazing. I just wouldn't want anything to detract away from that, which in my opinion, it does not.
I agree that the display should not distract viewers from the building. But still....
And anyway without the signage, I would not even looked up. So this is a good thing because then people will see how beautiful the buolding is.

I also agree with MarketStEl, we are missing one side of the LED signage per promised.
I hope it will come soon.

SEPTA's subway station makeover of City Hall station and 15th Street station will begin in early 2016. The reconstruction of the 15th Street station is to be completed in 2018, and City Hall station to be finished by 2020.

SEPTA official: Central subway station makeover will take years

Wow. I just was walking home with my wife today after I met her at City Hall. I despise getting off at City Hall because of the backup. There is NO room on the loading platform to let passengers off and let others on in a timely and safe manner. I told her how much this needs to change...the whole place needs an overhaul. This is good stuff.

Also, has anyone else noticed the stairs leading up to Dilworth really awkward?

This does sound like it will happen now! In any article they usually talk about the difficulty of doing this project directly under City Hall. But, oddly, they leave out how the current City Hall station was created under the very same structure 80+ years ago. Was it easier then? I think not!

In addition to any other factors, it's more complicated now because now there's an existing, operating subway, whose operation cannot be interrupted, to contend with.

True enough. Also the article mentioned 13 elevators. Wow.

I'm pretty excited about this project because I find it so embarrassing to take any out-of-towners through the free interchange between 15th St and and City Hall stations since it looks so awful.
