Philly makes most of the country's drugs, its more of a jack of all trades economy, which is why it's so stable. Its very low-key for a city it's size, so to the masses of american simpletons it doesn't seem as large or vital as it really is, but the highley educated and savvy few on the cutting edge know better. Its been a large city for so long that after nyc, it's the most dynamic, layered, and complex city in america, a true dichotomy on many levels, which is why it's the most misunderstood city in the top 5 or so.

How many people are actually going to vote "no" on a poll as to whether Philadelphia is "somewhat important"? lol

To answer the question, of course it is but to be honest the mods should close this thread because this has nothing to do with city vs city

Uh... yeah? The only reason you'll get people that say "no" is because they want to start a flame war. This is sort of a no-brainer.

Nice post. Truly a misunderstood city.

Yes.

By "here", do you mean within the Philly metro? Or compared to the Northeastern US?

Philly's cultural and nightlife hub would be the neighborhoods of Center City. King of Prussia is arguably the employment hub although Center City may still be a close second. Notwithstanding the ongoing "Philly vs. NYC" debates, ultimately there's no argument IMO that the Big Apple is the hub of the Northeast.
