My intention upon joining was to trash Philly out. You see, I had lived in Germantown, on Pulaski Avenue, and attended Theodore Roosevelt Junior high, 1967-69. Although born with a natural tan, I was one of the few "white" kids at the most violent school I ever attended. I was robbed, beaten, jumped, stabbed, and almost murdered one day (a black kid who attended the same church saved me a second before the knife was plunged into my chest...I was in the 8th grade). But, before posting, I read a lot of posts and did some research. There were some good things about Philly, the cultural attractions, food, and I met some really cool people. I lived near an Italian neighborhood and they were great to me. The fellows at Wayne Avenue Cold Cuts, all Italians, saved me and one of my brothers from a terrible beating by a gang of thugs looking to beat the you know what out of people. Well, after being on this forum, I see a lot of positive changes in the city and I have some point of reference having lived in Baltimore and San Jose, inner city. I am trashing nothing out. I see too much good about the city now and its people. I am close to retirement and am considering moving back east from the Midwest. I am actually considering Philly as I like so much of what I see (hey, its the city where I learned my love for Motown and many other cultural tastes). Keep up the good work.

You were the victim of numerous hate crimes ... This sort of thing still happens regularly to white kids stuck in the public school system. It's terrible.

Default The worst mistake in my life

The worst mistake I had ever made was moving back to Philly. I was lucky to get out of there with my life. To hell with that city.

Right. All 1.6 million people, who live in the city, are entirely responsible for whatever happened to you which you haven't bothered to describe.

I'm starting to agree with Buzz Bissinger that Chip Kelly is a fraud.

I love when people blame their issues in life on the city. It's pretty funny, like everyone in the city and the city itself had something to do with it. Is it only this region where this occurs or this a common occurrence all over the country?

One of the colleges in South Carolina is looking at Chip Kelly to be head coach. Keep your fingers crossed that they pick him.

People have suspected for while that he'd end up at a college again. I didn't think I'd ever miss Andy Reid but right now, I do.

I don't think he deceived anybody ... I think he gave it the old college try but just isn't good enough to coach or evaluate talent in the NFL.
