Nice thread! I grew up in Philly and lived there for many years, and as such so many of the towns in the burbs are a mystery to me.

As for Darby in particular, I have to admit that I always felt a bit of tension there. It wasn't a "racial" thing; everybody just seemed tense. It probably flows down from town leadership which has had its issues over the years.

I would say much more towards the latter. With the slight exception of Darby, I would feel fine walking through any of those towns snapping pictures.
