Nothing factual. Just a sample survey among readers.

Would love to hear how Savannah, Ga is more diverse than Houston.

A joke to you, perhaps. But it's not an editorial list. It is based on votes from people who visited the cities. Providence has purposely made itself into a powerhouse in these categories, even Bostonians know that Providence is a more fun night out. The main point is that Philly is better than Boston or San Francisco in a number of categories, on a list that means more than the opinions of a few 'homers' on this site.

I know heads are really thick around here, but perhaps this helps you understand why Philly residents don't back down when whe other cities try and put Philly beneath them. The reality is different, Philly is better.

Even 'facts' are not factual so get over it. Tons of people read T&L and decide their next vacation destination using rankings like these so face it, Philly's appeal will grow.

Whatever makes you sleep at night.

I like Philly and I love visiting, but this list is garbage. No diagnostic method, no scientific or factual basis, just a sampling of a few readers.

Too bad so many lists are garbage, eh? I'd say 98% of them.... but it would be disingenuous for you to dismiss it altogether. Travel and leisure is a major publication, catering to people who travel... so it's not the same thing as a random internet poll, like the ones on this site.

Well, according toyour own source, Travel + Leisure, in their own city vs city comparisons, San Francisco beats Philadelphia:

America's Favorite Cities 2011 - City Comparison - San Francisco vs Philadelphia | Travel + Leisure

but Philadelphia beats Boston:
America's Favorite Cities 2011 - City Comparison - Boston vs Philadelphia | Travel + Leisure

So 1 out of 2 aint bad.

Actually that's been true for a long time, since the Trinity Repertory Company established itself as tops in the nation. Providence is to Theater as New Orleans is to Partying and Voodoo.
