Questions about university city
Hi everyone,
I will be relocating pretty soon, and philly is one of the places high on my list as possibilities. I will be most likley living in university city as the school I may be attending is located there. I've been hearing alot about center city, (really good things) but not so much on university city. Can anyone tell me a little bit about this area. What's good about it, what's bad? How close is it to center city? why is it called university city? Thanks in advance!

What happened to the University of the Arts? Anyway, there are some very good parts of University city and some not so good parts. You would need to post more information. I believe it is generally advised not to go west of 48th Street. It's called University City because The University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University, and the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, are all located there. It's about 10 minutes from center city, so it's a great location. Here's some more information.

No problem Timmy, as I said it's in center city and I suggested you look in Washington Square West for an apartment. That area is between 7th and Broad Streets and between Walnut and South Streets. It is also known as the gayborhood although plenty of straight people live there as well. It's a very diverse area (as is all of center city).
