Considering moving to Chestnut Hill from way out of town sometime in the next few months. After having looked at Hill House already--feels like an Old Folks' home--we've decided we'd prefer renting in a house. We've tried Trulia, Craigslist, and the Chestnut Hill Local, but with no real luck. Any suggestions?

14-1500/mo 2 BR or 1 with some extra space

The Ardleigh address is fine. I'm not sure the second address is in Chestnut hill...

You might contact a realtor to help you look for places. It's free for you. The homeowner/landlord pays the real estate fee.

There is also a property management company that deals exclusively with that area that you might check out called George woodward. They don't have a huge inventory of housing available at any given time, but they might know of something that fits your criteria.

Sorry, yeah, I have checked out Woodward. How's that 707 Westview St. location, by the way?

The second is in Roxborough, I know. The general question still applies. I've read that Manayunk is largely college students+bars so I was wondering if the 2nd address is set apart enough and still safe/convenient.

I think 707 is in W. Mount Airy - but in a great location. Close to the park, Co-op etc.

I don't know much about whether the location in Roxborough is desirable or not.

The Lemonte St. address would be considered Roxborough rather than Manayunk. It's definitely a safe area and primarily residential on the side streets. Ridge Avenue is the commercial drag, but it's more focused on retail and offices and less on night life like Main Street in Manayunk. You'll find some places to eat and drink, and shopping is nearby. Parking might be an inconvenience and some of the streets are pretty narrow, so you don't get the sense of space you would from the other addresses you posted. For public transit, you have some bus routes near by, but you're probably about a mile to the train. Not a bad walk to the station, but it's all up hill coming back.
