Setting up a Co op house in Philadelphia
My wife and I are thinking of setting up a co - op house in the Philadelphia area.
We now live in Northern California, love it, but are thinking of moving to Philadelphia to take advantage of big city life, We sure can not afford San Francisco. We love south street, the museums, arts etc. We currently own a large 9 bedroom home, live with our first grade daughter and rent out 6 rooms to professionals. Our roommates have included, doctors, lawyers, teachers, reporters and even TV newscasters. We hope to find a grand old mansion to do the same thing in in Philadelphia.
I figure we can not afford downtown, It does look like we can find large older homes (that we might afford) in Jenkintown, Oreland, Elkins park, Swarthmore. Really don't know what areas to look at. Figure it should be close (walking distance ) to the train and shopping. We figure we would charge about 600 a month for each room. Share expenses, houskeeper, DSL, satelite TV etc.
Anyone here think this would work in Philadelphia? How about suggestions on where to look.
Thanks
