I heard they were building beautiful cookie cutters in the suburbs of the exurbs. White only, of course. You should look into that, you'd be safe, or maybe not.

Is there something wrong with white only?

It is different to say I want to live in an area that is quiet, conservative, professional or a party town or an artistic area or whatever it is that you like. Saying I want to live in a white only area, black only area, Asian only area, whatever race only area I find to be very bizarre, the statement seems to say that if you're white then you must be x,y,z or that if you're black, then you must be x,y,z. Last time I checked people are people and just because someone is my same race it doesn't translate into we like the same things. I won't necessarily like a neighborhood because the people in it, look like I do.

So your thoughts are precluded by many judgements. I find it bizarre that your liking or disliking something are the same but for the exception of people. You espouse the notion of people wanting to live with their own people as being bizarre. It's actually a learned behavior. So I see you have an issue with individuals or people who invoke cultural identity, tradition or self preservation as bizarre.

I don't think you understood what I said.

What do you mean when you say their own people?

Also, self-preservation? That seems like a bit of an exaggeration. Last time I checked white isn't a culture, but I could be very wrong. I have no problem with tradition or culture, the thing is that just because we both share the same skin color doesn't mean that we share anything else. That was my point.

My white neighbors (all of my neighbors are white) spend all day listening to loud music, smoking blunts, having fights, one time one of their friends broke their car window, the cops come here several times over them (only because of them), my white neighbors where I lived before where pretty much like this too. My other white neighbors are unemployed drug addicts who got their kids taken away by the state. Not all of my neighbors are like that, but I think maybe now I'm illustrating my point more clearly.

I find the area where I live to be predominantly white, but I absolutely dislike the people here. If someone was asking me how would you like the people in your area to be? Their race wouldn't be in my answer, but I'd say things like: people who appreciate/support the arts, spend time outdoors, environmentally conscious, healthy, involved with their community, friendly, peaceful, etc. I don't see how race translates into any of these things.

Anyways, I'm not familiar with Germantown so I don't have anything to add to this thread, but I'm always curious to read what people familiar with an area have to say about it. I thought the article was very interesting too.

Yikes!) Why not just keep the 23 as a bus from Wayne Junction to all points south?
I agree, a "German Township" trolley would be best.
Would Septa ever consider having the trolleys feed into the Broad Street Line or even the RR tracks at Wayne Junction? Is this even possible?
I know in SW Philly the trolleys work this way where they go underground at a certain point.
