Hello everyone

Need the local experts here to harness your wisdom for an Indiana boy moving to Philly

I am going to work in consulting. As such, I will only be in the apartment 2 days of the week/every other week.

1) I want to find a dirt cheap place. Under $500, but let's see how low I can go. I'll live in a closet if that's what it means, hahahaha. My current place is $225/month, which I know I can't match, but hey, who knows!

2) As close as possible to the airport.

I tried to use philadelphia.apartmenthomeliving.com - but none of the county areas on that site seem to be close to the airport. What counties should I look for when trying to pinpoint stuff?

P.S. yes, i ran a search before I posted this thread but I'm super super cheap, so that changes the criteria a little and thus I couldn't find anything suitable thusfar, hahaha.

Think of this as an apartment challenge thanks for helping out everyone

Why not just get a cheap hotel room for that infrequent?

Stuff like a closet, a space to put my stuff in, a mailing address, and the small possibility that once-every-while I might get a local client might come into play. It was something I was strongly considering through, before I wen through the checklist of stuff I need.

The main thing for 500 bucks is most would be pretty undesireable or at least in undesireable areas.

Is crime an issue for you? South west Philly/eastwick, your in luck too. Its not the best hood in the city, so you might find some deals. Tinicum township in Deleware County, half of the airport is in Tinicum. Not a bad place to live, not a nice place to live eather. Not a big demand to live here so prices are good. Its an old school tight nit hood.

Tinicum Township looks like a great area! However, it only seems to be houses though. Can't seem to find any apartments there =/ Eastwick as well. But maybe I'm just a n00b at searching, hahaha.

In Tinicum you will need to go there an explore, ask around. There are small duplex apartments there that will never be listed on some big apartment sight. Like I said its a tight nit community. Store are some small store fronts that appear to have apartments above them. Wanamaker ave and second streets will be a good place to look. You may be able to rent a room in a house there too. I don't know eastwick that well. There is some crime in southwest Philly too. Tinicum is very safe, lots of old people live there. Some results I came up with Zillow.com; 1312 Main St, Darby, PA;211 S 5th St, Darby, PA;7222 Yocum St, Philadelphia, PA(Elmwood);7000 Reedland St, Philadelphia, PA(Eastwick)($475)!!!;

Check Craiglist entries for South and Southwest Philly, Tinicum and Essington, Lansdowne, and maybe Ridley Park. I'm not going to recommend anywhere else because you don't belong in places like Darby or Yeadon or even the working class family oriented neighborhoods.

The OP could be from Gary, Indiana. If he is he could handle the hood in south west Philly, or Darby. He is looking for less then $500 month. That's why I asked if he cared about crime.
