And yes, it is odd that King of Prussia wasn't included. Perhaps it's based on the amount of unique local shops and boutiques rather than the variety of chain stores.

But who could ask for more than Cherry Hill, Mt Laural and Marlton? Best shopping in the world IMO. Of course for purposes of this story that is still considered Philly. But center City ? No way. Columbus Blvd in South Philly beats Center City.

Bingo. I don't see how this ranking shocks people so much. Philly has always had boutiques and great shopping. LA is so fake. New York (the part most tourists would go to for shopping) is full of department stores and national stores. Philly on the other hand is comprised mostly of small businesses and boutiques with national chains and a few department stores to top it off. It's much more unique and always has been. Once the city finally gets some more national chains and department stores in Center City, nobody will be able to question the ranking. I admit, Top Ten in the world does seem a bit odd given how many world-cities there are but Top 3 in the US definitely doesn't.

I can name quite a few actually. What you shop for and what the people writing that article shop for are clearly two different things.
