Since today was pleasant and mild, the weather would not have been the top story, I reckon.

No it would have been..."it was a beautiful fall like day but that's going to change in 2 days".

Wouldn't this only be news if it was the month of February???
I agree with you. I'm so tired of people talking about the weather. People are so BORING.

It's almost as lame as people talking about how much they hate Philadelphia. If they hate it that much, then they should leave. It's not like Philadelphia's population hasn't grown in the last 10 years anyway.

You know what I'm tired of? This: Millbourne Identity | Philadelphia City Paper | 07/26/2012 I'm sick and tired of the textbook lazy "journalism". I'm sick and tired of kids from the actual suburbs trying to call urban places like Upper Darby and Millbourne suburban, small towns, or towns in general. I'm sick and tired of the typical "white people are all just like us and not varied depending on class and ethnic group" crap trying to make every diversifying, working class neighborhood out to be like the Deep South before the neighborhood in question diversified. I'm sick and tired of seeing places that people in actual "Americana" constantly look down on and turn their noses up at lumped in with those places simply because they're outside of the city.

If I comment on that "article" on their site, what does it do exactly? Absolutely nothing. One comment does very little when compared to an article in a paper that is circulated a great deal and then put up on the internet as well.

I can't really comment on old Millbourne, but I do find it a very interesting little borough (and I bowl at that "little alley" every week during the school year ).

I think your criticisms are a little harsh--it's a very interesting article overall. I do agree though that it reeks of "outsider elitism," and given that you're from nearby, I can see why it would annoy you. I'd be pretty peeved myself if there were an article about the "Semiticization" of the Eastern Main Line and how it offended all the old-money bluebloods.

There's a few reasons it annoys me. For one, it over-reaches. Citypaper is a city paper. If you don't know anything about Millbourne or Upper Darby then don't write about either. Secondly, it reeks of not just outsider elitism but lazy "journalism", and the typical suburban inability or unwillingness to seek to understand a complex situation.

All you really need to know about Millbourne is that it was named "Mill"bourne for a reason. The "article" would've been much better if it were written by somebody who is actually from Millbourne. Then we wouldn't have yet another "article" misrepresenting Upper Darby, Millbourne, and the entirety of the eastern part of Delco. I feel the same way about any "article" that has the same flaws as I do about this one. I can't stand the way people insult and demonize everybody in Chester or Darby. I can't stand the way people stereotype and insult everybody in Clifton Heights. I can't stand when they make the entirety of the Northeast out to be suburban and uniform. I can't stand when people disrespect Camden as if it's always been in the state it is currently in. This kind of crap makes us all look bad.
